Its about an hour ride by jeep up a bumpy steep winding road to reach the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate.  The estate, built in the 1930's, sits high on a ridge above the plains of Tamilnadu. At about 8,000 feet above sea level, this tea estate is the highest in the world. Kolukkumalai Tea Estate still uses the plants original machinery and processes the tea using traditional methods.
